The Custer County High School Knowledge Bowl belongs to the San Luis Valley League.  Once a month we compete all day in a tournament against almost 20 other schools from as far away as Pagosa Springs.  This year we usually place about 5th or 6th in both Varsity and Junior Varsity.  After the graduation of our outstanding 3rd place State Championship Team last year, we are in growing mode.  We also participate in the international online timed computer Knowledge Master Open twice a year, and occasional invitational tournaments.  Every Tuesday during lunch we practice in the school library.  Any high school student is eligible to play. 

     In order to play students are placed into a four person team with a long buzzer strip in front of them.  Any team member may buzz in.  Without discussion on the answer, they silently decide who will answer the given question.  The team with the most points at the end of the match wins that match.  The team members must develop a rapport between them to know who might have the correct answer to a question be it math, social studies, biology, or English.
