My name is Dave Heppe, and I feel very lucky to be teaching in Custer County Middle School. I have two business degrees from the University of Colorado, and I spent the first 16 years of my career working in the business world as an auditor and finance person. It didn’t feel like that work mattered, and in 1990 I was given a chance to start teaching middle school in Denver. I have been doing it ever since, and I love it. I like working with middle school students and being part of their lives. I teach math to grades 6th through 8th, and my goal is to have everyone ready for or already in algebra by the time they leave the middle school. I also am the student council sponsor, and I co-direct a play each fall.
