Choir: Choir was missing from Custer County High School for a number of years. In 2006, choir was added to the list of electives students could take. This performance based class provides an outlet for creativity and for self expression. It is available for all students, 9 – 12th grade. In 2007, 37 students are enrolled in choir and will perform at a number of venues. Music Theory: Music theory was a new elective in 2007 for students serious about the “nuts and bolts” of music. This class consists of two components: theory and musicianship/songwriting. Students begin with note naming and by the end of the year can analyze songs as well as write their own. |

I am thrilled to be a part of Custer County School District as a K-12 teacher. After growing up in Western Pennsylvania, I attended Michigan State University followed by raising three incredible kids. In 1996, I called Pagosa Springs, Colorado home and worked part time in the high school vocal department. Several years went by and I realized that teaching was truly my calling and arrived at Custer County in 2006. I teach elementary general music using “Orff Schulwerk” methods and two high school level classes, choir and music theory. |
